KARACHI, April 20 — Karachi police have arrested four suspected ringleaders in a matric exam paper leak network, targeting students during board examinations, officials said, as authorities intensify action against organised cheating.

The arrests were made by CIA police teams in multiple areas of the city, including Malir, Surjani, New Karachi and Gulshan, following investigations into coordinated paper leak activities.

Large online network uncovered

Police identified the suspects as Mubeen Khan, Osama, Bilal and Abdul Razzaq. Investigators said one of the accused, Mubeen Khan, allegedly operated multiple online groups involving thousands of students.

Authorities said these groups were used to share information, coordinate payments and facilitate access to exam papers before scheduled tests.

Payments and methods under investigation

Officials said the suspects were allegedly charging students for access to leaked papers, with payments collected through online banking channels.

Preliminary findings suggest that fees reached up to Rs40,000 per student, highlighting the scale of the operation.

Police said the network extended beyond digital platforms, with arrangements made for paper-solving sessions at private locations as well as near examination centres.

Authorities added that further investigations are underway to identify additional suspects and dismantle the wider network.
