KARACHI: A case involving former Sindh MPA Ghulam Rasool Unar, who has alleged that he was deceived into marriage through AI-generated photographs, has taken a new turn after his former wife submitted her response before the court.
An Additional District and Sessions Court South heard a petition filed by Unar against his former wife over alleged fraud involving AI-generated images.
During the hearing, the former wife’s counsel submitted objections to the petition. Unar’s lawyer, Aamir Nawaz Waraich, requested time to review the objections, following which the court adjourned further proceedings until August 29.
Advocate Ghulam Farooq Abbasi, representing the former wife, argued that the facts had been misrepresented in the petition. He also disputed the claim that the former couple had initially established contact through social media.
According to the former wife’s counsel, Unar’s daughter and other female members of his family were aware of the matter. He further claimed that before the marriage, Unar had agreed through an affidavit, in the presence of family members, to several conditions, including providing a flat in his wife’s name, a monthly payment of Rs500,000 and 50 acres of land.
The lawyer further stated that the petitioner continued to pay Rs100,000 per month as maintenance until May, after which, according to his client, he expelled her from the house following disputes.
The former wife’s counsel also alleged that the complaint filed with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) was motivated by a personal dispute and remains pending.
He urged the court to dismiss the petition, arguing that the former husband was allegedly attempting to defame and harass his client and prevent her from pursuing her legal rights.
Separately, the former wife filed a claim before the Family Court in Hyderabad in July seeking recovery of money, according to her lawyer.
The court has adjourned the matter until August 29, when further proceedings are expected.
