TAXILA: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched an awareness campaign in Taxila regarding the Special Procedure (Fixed Tax Scheme) for small shopkeepers under Tax Return 2026.
The campaign was initiated on the instructions of the Commissioner, Cantt Zone Rawalpindi.
As part of the initiative, Assistant Commissioner (IR) Muhammad Awais Azam held a meeting with a delegation of the Central Anjuman-e-Tajiran Taxila at Tax Office Unit 4, Wah Cantt.
Traders briefed on fixed tax scheme
During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Awais Azam briefed trade representatives on the key features and procedures of the Special Procedure Scheme and responded to their questions.
He urged shopkeepers to fulfil their tax obligations responsibly, describing tax payment as a national responsibility.
According to the official, broadening the tax base can contribute to economic stability and increase the government’s capacity to undertake welfare and public-development projects.
Azam also encouraged trade leaders to create awareness among small traders in their respective areas and motivate them to join the scheme.
He highlighted that eligible shopkeepers who become part of the scheme may also benefit from exemption from departmental audit, subject to the applicable rules and conditions.
Traders assure cooperation
The delegation of the Central Anjuman-e-Tajiran Taxila included President Sheikh Sufyan Masood, Senior Vice President Jamil Sarraf, Vice President Muhammad Tariq, Haji Muhammad Ayub Sarraf, Faisal Butt, Qaiser Awan and other prominent trade representatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the traders assured the Assistant Commissioner of their cooperation in promoting the scheme and supporting tax collection efforts.
The awareness drive is aimed at improving understanding of the fixed tax mechanism among small shopkeepers and encouraging greater participation in the formal tax system.
