Multiple Vehicles Crash on M-2 Near Rawalpindi, One Killed and 30 Injured

RAWALPINDI: A major traffic accident involving a bus and several other vehicles occurred on the M-2 Motorway near Capital Smart City amid heavy rain, leaving one person dead and 30 others injured.

According to Rescue 1122, the deceased was identified as Shamsur Rehman, son of Muhammad Sulaiman, a resident of Attock.

Officials said 30 people were injured in the accident. Of them, 27 were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), while three were taken to Shifa International Hospital. Some injured passengers were provided first aid at the scene.

Motorway Police and Rescue 1122 emergency teams reached the site shortly after receiving information about the crash and began rescue operations.

Officials said heavy rainfall and slippery road conditions were among the possible causes of the accident. Further investigation is underway.

Motorway Police have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving during periods of heavy rain and reduced road visibility.
