LAHORE, April 20 — The Punjab government has launched a vocational training initiative for children living in protection centres, aiming to equip them with practical skills and improve their chances of future employment.
The programme is being implemented through a partnership between the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab and Skill Nest Institute, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
Training focused on practical skills
Under the initiative, children will receive training in fields such as information technology, creative arts, beautician services and other technical disciplines.
Officials said the courses are designed to provide hands-on skills and prepare participants for entry into the workforce.
Focus on rehabilitation and independence
Chairperson Sarah Ahmed said the programme aims to promote self-reliance among children under state care.
The three-month courses will conclude with the issuance of nationally recognised certificates, enabling participants to pursue employment opportunities.
Implementation and oversight
Both organisations will jointly oversee the training, monitoring progress and ensuring effective delivery of the programme.
Officials said the initiative aligns with broader efforts to support the rehabilitation and long-term well-being of vulnerable children through structured education and skill development.
