Woman Killed in Gulshan-e-Hadeed Shooting

KARACHI: A woman was killed and two men, including her husband, were critically injured when unidentified armed men allegedly opened fire on people riding a motorcycle in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Karachi.

According to police, the incident took place near Attock Petrol Pump on Gulshan-e-Hadeed Link Road within the jurisdiction of Steel Town Police Station.

The attackers, who were reportedly travelling in a white Suzuki Alto, allegedly opened fire on the motorcycle before fleeing the scene.

The woman died at the scene, while the two injured men were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Fatima Zahra, daughter of Munir Shah. The injured were identified as Akbar Ali, son of Shahid Ali, and Umair, son of Samiullah.

Police suspect family dispute over marriage

Steel Town SHO Javed Abro said Fatima Zahra and Akbar Ali were married and had reportedly entered into a marriage of their choice some time ago.

Police said the couple was also involved in a case pending before a court.

According to the initial police assessment, the shooting may have been linked to the couple’s marriage and was allegedly carried out by members of the woman’s family. Police stressed that the investigation is ongoing.

The couple and Umair were reportedly travelling from their residence in Dhabeji, Thatta, towards Korangi when they came under attack near the petrol station.

Husband among critically injured

Police said Akbar Ali sustained six bullet wounds, while Umair was hit by two bullets. Akbar’s condition was described as critical.

Following the shooting, police reached the scene and called in the crime scene unit to collect evidence.

Authorities have launched a search for the attackers and are investigating the circumstances and motive behind the shooting.

The allegation regarding the involvement of the woman’s family has not yet been established in court, and no arrests were reported in the supplied account.
