Pakistani actor Afzal Khan, popularly known as Jan Rambo, has said he faced unfair treatment in the entertainment industry and was often limited to comedy, dance and action-based roles despite wanting to perform stronger characters.

Speaking during a recent television appearance, Jan Rambo discussed his career after moving from films to television and said he was not given the kind of serious roles that could fully reflect his acting range.

Jan Rambo is among Pakistan’s well-known film actors and gained popularity through hundreds of films, particularly for his comic timing, energetic performances and dance skills. Like many film actors, he later turned to television after the decline of Pakistan’s film industry.

The actor said that while senior stars such as Javed Sheikh and Nadeem Baig were given central roles with stronger character depth, younger actors like him were often restricted to dance numbers, action scenes or lighter parts.

He said this pattern prevented him from exploring the serious and powerful roles he had hoped to perform during his career.

Jan Rambo said that by the time he reached an age and stage where he could take on mature roles, the film industry had already gone into decline.

He also expressed concern that television producers have continued to see him mainly in comic roles rather than offering characters suited to his experience and ability.

The actor said he still has the energy and passion to work and wants to be considered for dignified, meaningful roles that allow him to show his full potential as a performer.
