easypaisa Digital Bank Profit Before Tax Jumps to Rs8.26 Billion in HY2026

ISLAMABAD: easypaisa digital bank reported a profit before tax of Rs8.26 billion for the first half of 2026, more than doubling from the same period last year as revenue, deposits and lending continued to grow.

The bank’s board approved the financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026, showing profit after tax of Rs5.78 billion and earnings per share of Rs9.61.

Profit before tax increased 2.27 times year-on-year, while total revenue rose 30.5%, supported by growth in lending, payments and other fee-based businesses.

Net markup income climbed 32.46%, driven by expansion in the lending portfolio, treasury investments and higher customer deposits. Fee-based income increased 28.34% on stronger contributions from payment services, collections, disbursements and insurance products.

Operating expenses rose to Rs21.08 billion as the bank continued spending on customer acquisition, expansion of its merchant ecosystem and infrastructure required to support higher digital lending volumes.

Customer deposits reached Rs158.58 billion by the end of June, up 67.37% from a year earlier. The bank reported a CASA ratio of 97.46%, while current accounts represented 79.95% of deposits.

Total assets stood at Rs232.58 billion, while gross advances reached Rs31.11 billion, translating into an advances-to-deposit ratio of 18.63%.

The bank said asset quality remained stable, with loans overdue by more than 90 days representing 3.16% of the portfolio and a coverage ratio of 159.63%.

Its Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at 23.75%, above the regulatory requirement.

Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited upgraded easypaisa digital bank’s long-term entity rating to “AA-” on July 1, while maintaining its short-term rating at “A1”.

President and CEO Jahanzeb Khan said the first-half performance reflected growth in the bank’s customer base and continued investment in digital financial services.

“Our strong profitability during the first half of 2026 reflects the resilience of our business model, the trust placed in us by millions of customers, and our commitment to advancing financial inclusion in Pakistan,” he said.

Chief Financial Officer Amin Sukhiani said the bank was also expanding into Islamic banking and foreign exchange products, alongside consumer offerings including buy-now-pay-later services and credit cards.

easypaisa digital bank said it has more than 60 million registered users and will continue expanding across payments, lending, remittances, insurance and other digital financial services.
