Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman to Address Rally in Mingora Against Petroleum Levy on September 4

SWAT: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman will address a public rally in Mingora, the central city of Swat, on September 4 against the imposition of petroleum levy and taxes on petroleum products.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s sit-ins will continue until the government accepts its demands, said Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Ameer Inayatullah Khan while addressing a press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami city district office in Mingora.
Mingora City District Ameer Muhammad Amin, General Secretary Mufti Sher Muhammad and other party leaders were also present.
Earlier, Inayatullah Khan attended a meeting of the district Shura.
Addressing the press conference, Inayatullah Khan termed the imposition of petroleum levy by the government an unjust measure, saying the government was shifting the economic burden onto the people instead of reducing its own burden. He said protests were continuing across all four provinces and Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman had made it clear that the sit-ins would continue until the federal government withdrew the petroleum levy and reduced petroleum prices to Rs225 per litre.
Inayatullah Khan said Jamaat-e-Islami would neither tire nor bow down and would continue its struggle until the government was forced to accept its demands. He said the party was also campaigning against the imposition of taxes in Malakand Division and called upon the provincial leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to play a practical role in addressing the issue. He said Federal Minister Amir Muqam, PPP General Secretary Humayun Khan, PML-N leader Muhammad Ali Shah and PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar belonged to Malakand Division and should play their role in resolving the problems faced by the people of the region.
He also condemned the 20 percent increase in toll tax on the Swat Motorway, saying the increase was contrary to commitments made by the provincial government and should be withdrawn.
Inayatullah Khan said the rising wave of inflation had further aggravated the difficulties of the people and urged the government to provide relief instead of imposing additional financial burdens on the public.
