Pakistan is observing the 88th birth anniversary of legendary actor Sultan Rahi, one of the most influential figures in Punjabi cinema whose work shaped the country’s film industry for decades.

Born on 24 June 1938, Sultan Rahi began his career with supporting roles before emerging as a leading action star. His breakthrough came through major Punjabi films, including Maula Jatt, where his pairing with actor Mustafa Qureshi became one of the most recognizable duos in regional cinema history.

Over a career spanning nearly four decades, he appeared in hundreds of films and became a dominant figure in Pakistan’s film industry. His work is widely regarded as a key part of Lollywood’s golden era.

Sultan Rahi died on 9 January 1996 near Gujranwala in a fatal incident, but his films and performances continue to be referenced in discussions about Pakistan’s cinematic heritage.
