MANSEHRA, June 9: A World Environment Day event was organized in Mansehra by the Global Alliance Against Poverty (GAAP) with financial support from the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) under its ongoing RSS&CR project to promote environmental awareness among students, teachers, community members and government stakeholders.
The ceremony was held at Umeed-e-Sehar Schooling System and brought together local administration officials, education representatives, parents and students to discuss environmental protection, community resilience and the importance of sustainable practices.
The event was attended by Focal Person to the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Kamal Saleem Swati as chief guest, along with Assistant Commissioner Waqas Ali, Director Human Rights Umar Farooq Khan, Divisional Forest Officer Ghazanfar and AESDO Tariq Khan.
Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean environment and encouraging community participation in conservation efforts.
Focus on environmental conservation
Participants discussed the significance of World Environment Day and emphasized the need for collective action to address environmental challenges.
Speakers encouraged students, teachers and community members to take part in plantation campaigns and adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
The event also focused on building awareness about the role of local communities in protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable development.
Recognition of PPAF support
During the ceremony, participants acknowledged the contribution of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in supporting environmental awareness initiatives and community-based activities.
Speakers appreciated the organization’s efforts in promoting environmental education and encouraging plantation drives through development projects in the region.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to support environmental conservation initiatives and contribute to creating cleaner and more resilient communities.
