PESHAWAR: Dengue cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have climbed to 478 this year, with Peshawar reporting the highest number of confirmed infections, according to the provincial Health Department.
Official statistics show that 2,697 suspected dengue cases have been reported from government hospitals across the province. No dengue-related death has been recorded in KP so far this year.
During the past week alone, 620 suspected cases were reported, of which 83 were confirmed as dengue infections.
Peshawar remains the most affected district, with 177 confirmed cases, followed by Kohat with 151 cases. Bannu has reported 31 cases, Haripur 21 and Swat 10 confirmed infections.
Health authorities have also intensified dengue surveillance and preventive measures across the province. More than 246,000 houses have been inspected to identify mosquito breeding sites, with dengue larvae detected at 600 locations.
In addition, health teams inspected more than 22,000 outdoor sites, of which 304 were found positive for dengue larvae.
The Health Department said surveillance and anti-larval activities are continuing to control the spread of dengue and prevent further mosquito breeding across the province.
