PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said its recoveries in the Kohistan mega scam have crossed Rs10.5 billion after an accountability court approved another plea bargain worth more than Rs409 million.
Accountability Court-III Peshawar approved the plea bargain application of accused Hareeq Shah, son of Haji Badshah, involving a recovery of over Rs409 million, according to NAB-KP.
The latest approval brings the number of finalised plea bargains in the case to seven, with their combined value reaching Rs8.84 billion.
NAB said assets worth another Rs1.70 billion have been surrendered during the investigation, including assets linked to benamidars. Together, finalised plea bargains and voluntarily surrendered assets have taken recoveries in the case to more than Rs10.5 billion.
The bureau said 44 accused have so far been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
Further recoveries could follow, with NAB-KP saying plea bargain applications worth approximately Rs10 billion are currently at advanced stages of scrutiny.
According to the bureau, those applications will be submitted to the accountability court for approval once the required procedural formalities have been completed.
The development represents another major step in the ongoing investigation into the Kohistan scam, with NAB continuing efforts to trace and recover funds and assets linked to the case.
