KARACHI: The newly constructed Korangi No. 5 Flyover was formally inaugurated by Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, marking a major infrastructure development for the area.
Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, PPP District Korangi President Jani Memon, Sindh Assembly member Farooq Awan, Korangi Town Vice Chairman Zareen Awan, PPP District Korangi General Secretary Muhammad Sharjeel Rizwani, Information Secretary Ahmed Raza, council members, union council chairmen and vice chairmen, municipal officials, party workers and a large number of residents attended the inauguration ceremony.
Participants described the Korangi No. 5 Flyover as an important step towards easing traffic congestion in Korangi, Landhi and surrounding areas.
Residents said heavy traffic on Korangi No. 5 and nearby roads had become a daily problem, causing delays for people travelling to offices, businesses, educational institutions and industrial areas. The new flyover is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time and provide smoother movement for commuters.
Addressing the ceremony, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said improving infrastructure and providing better transport facilities remain among the city government’s key priorities.
He said infrastructure development was not limited to building roads and bridges, adding that such projects were aimed at making life easier for citizens and providing improved public facilities.
Wahab said Landhi, Korangi and Ibrahim Hyderi are important residential and industrial areas of Karachi where thousands of people travel every day. He added that addressing traffic congestion in these areas was essential for improving daily mobility.
Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said the provincial government was focusing on development projects across Karachi, including roads, flyovers, underpasses, parks and other basic urban facilities.
He described the Korangi No. 5 Flyover as an important project for local residents and said efforts would continue to improve Karachi’s infrastructure and transport network.
PPP District Korangi President Jani Memon said the completion of the flyover was a positive development for residents who had long faced traffic and infrastructure problems.
Sindh Assembly member Farooq Awan said the flyover was a major requirement of the area and would directly benefit thousands of commuters. He added that better roads and transport infrastructure not only improve traffic movement but also support business and industrial activity.
Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh termed the completion of the Korangi No. 5 Flyover an important milestone in the area’s development.
He said all available resources were being used to improve roads, sanitation, green belts, parks and other civic facilities across Korangi Town.
Muhammad Naeem Sheikh said the flyover would make commuting easier and help reduce traffic pressure. He added that development projects would continue through coordinated efforts between elected representatives and relevant government institutions.
He also thanked the Karachi mayor, Sindh local government minister, elected representatives, municipal officials, party leaders, workers and residents for attending the inauguration ceremony.
At the end of the event, officials and elected representatives inspected the newly opened flyover, while residents welcomed the completion of the project and expressed hope that it would significantly improve traffic conditions in Korangi.
