PESHAWAR — The Information Welfare Association has expressed concern over the delay in appointing a Director General to the Directorate General Information and Public Relations, saying the vacant post is affecting administrative operations and the handling of employees’ and journalists’ affairs.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the association said the absence of a permanent Director General was creating difficulties in administrative and financial decision-making within the department.
The association also announced that an important General Body meeting will be held on Monday at 10am at the office of the Director General Information to discuss the issue and related employee concerns.
IWA President Muhammad Sajjad said the current situation had created uncertainty and unrest among employees of the Directorate General Information and Public Relations.
He urged officers and staff members to participate actively in the meeting and called for a united strategy to address what he described as legitimate employee demands and administrative challenges facing the department.
According to the association, the meeting will discuss the early appointment of a Director General Information, departmental matters and issues being faced by employees.
Muhammad Sajjad also expressed reservations over what he called an unnecessary delay in appointing a Director General from among senior and experienced officers of the department.
The association said the continued delay was increasing concerns among employees and affecting the smooth functioning of the Directorate.
