Islamabad Traffic Police have intensified action against rickshaws entering the capital illegally, issuing challan tickets to more than 400 drivers and impounding over 150 rickshaws during the past week, according to a police spokesperson.
Special traffic teams have been deployed at several locations across Islamabad to prevent rickshaws from entering restricted areas and to enforce designated routes and traffic regulations.
Special checkpoints established
Police have established checkpoints on the Islamabad Expressway, Colonel Sher Khan Avenue, Murree Road, Seventh Avenue and Ninth Avenue as part of the enforcement campaign.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan directed rickshaw drivers to follow designated routes and comply with traffic laws. Zonal deputy superintendents of police have also been instructed to submit daily reports on enforcement activities.
Police cite traffic safety
According to the CTO, action is being taken against traffic violations without discrimination to help reduce the risk of accidents and maintain the smooth flow of traffic.
The Islamabad Traffic Police said it is using available resources to provide residents with a safer and more organised travelling environment.
