KARACHI, June 27, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the commissioning parade of the 125th Midshipmen and 33rd Short Service Commission Course at Pakistan Naval Academy, Karachi, where Pakistani and foreign trainees formally passed out after completing their training.
The parade marked the commissioning of midshipmen and Short Service Commission cadets, including trainees from Bahrain, Iraq and Djibouti, according to the Directorate General Public Relations of Pakistan Navy. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf received the prime minister on his arrival at the academy.

Addressing the ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the newly commissioned officers and their families. He also appreciated Pakistan Naval Academy for imparting professional training to officers from Pakistan and friendly countries.
The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan Navy as an effective force for national defence and regional maritime stability.
He also commended Pakistan Navy’s role in safeguarding national maritime interests, particularly during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr. According to the statement, the Navy’s efforts helped deter threats and ensured the uninterrupted flow of critical energy supplies during a challenging regional security environment.

Top-performing cadets honoured
The prime minister also presented awards to outstanding cadets during the ceremony.
Midshipman Umar Mukhtar received the Sword of Honour for overall best performance, while Midshipman Hadi Abbas Khan was awarded the Academy’s Dirk.

Officer Cadet Hafiz Muhammad Ahmed Munawar received the Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal, while Officer Cadet Ulveera Hamza from the Short Service Commission Course won the Commandant Gold Medal.
The Proficiency Banner was awarded to Maintop Squadron.
Senior government officials, military officers, dignitaries and families of the commissioning officers attended the ceremony.
