ISLAMABAD: A contempt of court petition over the hospital transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan was refiled in the Supreme Court on Tuesday after objections raised by the Registrar Office were removed.
The petition, filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan against the government, had initially been returned by the Supreme Court Registrar Office with an objection.
According to sources, the Registrar Office objected that a list of allegations had not been provided to the parties accused of contempt of court.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the Supreme Court’s August 18 order had not been implemented and that an application had been made for the contempt of court petition to be fixed for an early hearing.
Barrister Gohar said he met the Supreme Court Registrar at the facilitation centre, where he was informed that an objection had been raised on the petition and that the file was being returned.
He said PTI would remove the objection and refile the contempt of court petition.
Barrister Gohar also said the party wanted the same bench to be constituted so that the case could be heard on Thursday.
He stressed that Imran Khan’s health was extremely important and called for meetings between the PTI founder and his family members.
“We have fulfilled our commitment,” Barrister Gohar said.
Later, PTI removed the objection raised by the Supreme Court Registrar Office and refiled the contempt of court petition.
Sources said the objection concerned the failure to send a list of allegations to those accused of contempt of court.
Speaking separately to journalists at Parliament, Barrister Gohar said he had met the Registrar at the facilitation centre and was told that one objection had been raised on the petition.
He requested that the petition be allotted a number the same day and that the required process be completed.
Barrister Gohar said Supreme Court orders must be implemented in all circumstances, adding that Imran Khan’s health was an issue concerning his fundamental rights.
He said that under the Supreme Court order, Imran Khan’s family was entitled to meet him once every week.
Referring to Noreen Bibi’s meeting with Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said she had not shared the complete details with him but was satisfied with the meeting.
The Supreme Court Registrar Office subsequently allotted number 8/2026 to Uzma Khan’s contempt of court petition.
Uzma Khan had filed the contempt of court petition against the government over the issue of Imran Khan’s hospital transfer.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and others were named as respondents in the petition.
The petition seeks Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital for treatment and requests that his medical tests be conducted.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja had also visited the Supreme Court a day earlier to seek an early hearing of the petition.
