Mumbai Police have traced a suspect in a case involving alleged death threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan, with investigators examining WhatsApp messages, CCTV footage and other evidence.
According to police, the suspect allegedly created a fake identity and fabricated WhatsApp conversations to make it appear that a criminal gang was threatening the actor as part of an extortion scheme.
Police said the suspect allegedly admitted during questioning that the threat plot was intended to frighten Salman Khan and extort money from him. Investigators also recovered two mobile phones allegedly hidden near Bandra Sea Face and obtained screenshots of the purported fake WhatsApp chats.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing to determine whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices.
