ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has rejected the results of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, alleging electoral irregularities and claiming that PTI-backed candidates had secured victories in eight constituencies.

Speaking at a press conference, the PTI chairman described the elections as unfair and announced that the party would issue a white paper detailing its concerns regarding the electoral process.

Barrister Gohar said the party possessed election documents, including Form 47s from several constituencies, which he claimed showed results different from those officially announced.

PTI alleges electoral irregularities

The PTI chairman alleged that vote manipulation and restrictions on political participation had affected the transparency of the electoral process. He further claimed that pre-election irregularities had taken place and that PTI had not been provided a level playing field.

According to Barrister Gohar, PTI-backed candidates were leading in eight constituencies, a claim he said was not reflected in the final results.

He added that the party would release a detailed white paper outlining its objections and allegations regarding the conduct of the elections.

Plans to observe ‘black day’

Barrister Gohar also announced that the party would observe a “black day” in Gilgit-Baltistan on the day members-elect take their oath.

The PTI chief further claimed that the party enjoys significant public support in the region, although no independent verification of the claim was provided.

The statement comes amid continued political debate over the transparency and credibility of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, with several opposition voices raising concerns about the electoral process.

Election authorities had not responded to PTI’s allegations at the time of filing this report.
