ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 11 militants in intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said, as counterterrorism operations continued in Bannu, South Waziristan and Khuzdar.
According to the sources, the operations targeted militants described by authorities as belonging to “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
In Bannu, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation against suspected militants, killing two and recovering weapons and ammunition from the site, the sources said.
They added that an alleged militant hideout was also destroyed with explosives during the operation.
In a separate operation in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, security forces acted on intelligence about militant movement and killed five suspects after surrounding their location and engaging them, according to security sources.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Sasool, Khuzdar district of Balochistan, where four militants described by authorities as members of “Fitna al-Hindustan” were killed.
Security sources said the militants in Khuzdar were targeted with the assistance of a quadcopter, allowing security personnel to strike their position more effectively.
According to the sources, precautions were taken during all three operations to protect civilians and prevent damage to the local population and their property.
The latest actions come as security forces continue counterterrorism operations under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam framework, which authorities say is aimed at eliminating militant networks and improving security across affected regions.
Security officials said operations would continue against militant groups and their networks until the threat of terrorism is eliminated.
