Prosecution highlights investigative gaps in Anmol Pinki murder case

3 Min Read

Serious shortcomings have been identified in the investigation of the Anmol Pinki murder case, with prosecutors raising concerns over delays, missing evidence, and incomplete investigative procedures.

According to media reports, a review of the interim charge sheet by the Deputy District Public Prosecutor found several deficiencies in the handling of the case. The report noted that the First Information Report (FIR) was registered nearly 30 days after the incident, while the submission of the charge sheet was also significantly delayed.

The prosecution has argued that these delays may have affected the collection and preservation of key evidence relevant to the case.

Concerns over missing evidence

The review found that investigators failed to complete essential verification procedures regarding the victim’s identity. It also noted that authorities did not obtain information from missing persons records and other relevant databases that could have assisted the investigation.

According to the prosecution, digital evidence linked to the case was not preserved in a timely manner. Investigators also failed to obtain CCTV footage from the crime scene, which could have provided crucial information about the incident.

The report further stated that efforts to identify and record statements from potential eyewitnesses were insufficient.

The prosecution has described the investigation as incomplete and recommended that additional evidence be collected before the case proceeds further.

It has also recommended recording the complainant’s statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code to strengthen the evidentiary record.

Sources said an interim charge sheet has already been submitted to the court, while a final charge sheet will be filed after forensic reports are received and further investigations are completed.

Background of the case

Anmol, also known as Pinki, was arrested earlier this year in Karachi’s Garden area in cases related to narcotics and illegal weapons, according to reports.

The case has attracted considerable public attention in recent weeks, and the latest findings regarding investigative shortcomings are expected to increase scrutiny of the inquiry process.
