ABBOTTABAD: Abbottabad Police have recovered a 12-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped for a ransom of Rs100 million and arrested three suspects following a coordinated operation involving technical tracking and road blockades.
The boy, identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Bahri, went missing from his home in the Sikandarabad police station area on August 25. His family later received a message demanding Rs100 million for his release and threatening to kill him if the ransom was not paid.
Police launch emergency operation
Following the report, special investigation teams were formed under the supervision of SP Cantt and DSP Cantt on the directions of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) and District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad.
Police imposed blockades along key district and inter-district routes as teams began searching for the missing child and suspected kidnappers.
According to police, technical assistance and location tracing helped investigators determine that the suspects were travelling towards Rawalpindi and Islamabad with the boy.
Abbottabad Police subsequently alerted police authorities in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and identified possible routes through which the suspects could attempt to escape.
Child recovered at Tarnol checkpoint
Police intercepted a suspicious vehicle at the Tarnol checkpoint and recovered the child safely.
Three suspects, identified as Owais Haroon, Niaz and Ahmed Ali, were taken into custody.
Police said a case has been registered and further investigation and legal proceedings are underway to determine the circumstances of the kidnapping and the suspects’ alleged involvement.
