Pakistan Navy Reviews Maritime Threats, Readiness at Command & Staff Conference

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has called for stronger training, tactical discipline, joint coordination and greater use of advanced technologies as the Pakistan Navy reviews emerging maritime security challenges.

He made the remarks while chairing the Pakistan Navy’s Command and Staff Conference at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, attended by principal staff officers and field commanders.

The conference examined the evolving maritime security environment, including conventional and non-conventional threats, instability around strategic choke points, risks to freedom of navigation and the security of vital sea lines of communication.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf reviewed the Navy’s operational preparedness and ongoing initiatives, while also assessing upcoming activities and strategic priorities.

He praised the force’s operational readiness and its capacity to undertake challenging missions, stressing that effective training and close coordination would remain central to maintaining a strong maritime defence posture.

The naval chief also highlighted the growing importance of asymmetric capabilities and advanced technologies in responding to emerging threats and retaining a tactical advantage in increasingly complex maritime environments.

The conference further discussed Pakistan Navy’s role in supporting regional maritime security, stability and freedom of navigation.

The Command and Staff Conference is the Pakistan Navy’s apex decision-making forum, where the naval chief, senior staff officers and field commanders review operational matters, strategic priorities and policy issues.
