Tarbela Ghazi: The sewerage system in the suburban village of Pahai, located in Tehsil Ghazi, has completely deteriorated, resulting in stagnant wastewater flooding the streets. As a consequence, the streets have fallen into a state of severe disrepair, causing immense difficulties for the residents. Despite the dire condition, no attention is being paid to the reconstruction and maintenance of these streets.
Most of the streets in residential areas were constructed several years ago and have now lost their functionality due to the passage of time. The situation has worsened to the extent that potholes have formed throughout the area, making mobility a major challenge. The ineffective sewerage system has led to waterlogging, which, in turn, has created hazardous conditions. Motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers are particularly affected, with many suffering from back and hip pain, while some are experiencing spinal misalignment due to the rough terrain.
Local residents lament that the deteriorating state of these streets has not only resulted in frequent accidents but has also made walking nearly impossible. Vehicular movement, especially for motorcars, has become extremely difficult. The damaged streets pose a significant risk, particularly for pedestrians, women, and the elderly, as they are no longer safe for commuting.
The residents have urged the authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure the timely repair and reconstruction of the roads. They have expressed their concerns over the discriminatory treatment towards their village, stating that despite casting a significant number of votes for the elected MNA and MPA in the general elections, their constituency has been completely neglected in terms of developmental projects.
The people of Pahai demand that their elected representatives take swift action to restore the sewerage system and reconstruct the damaged streets so that the residents can finally find relief from these persistent hardships.
