UPPER DIR: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed visited Wari in Upper Dir, where he inaugurated a newly constructed Police Facilitation Center and reviewed the district’s security situation with police officials, the administration and local elders.
District Police Officer Upper Dir Aslam Nawaz and Deputy Commissioner Dir Manzoor Ahmad Afridi received the provincial police chief. A smart contingent of Upper Dir Police presented him with a guard of honour, after which he visited the martyrs’ monument and laid a floral wreath.
Digital Police Services Under One Roof
The IG formally inaugurated the Police Facilitation Center Wari and planted a sapling at the facility as part of a tree plantation drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Zulfiqar Hameed said the center would provide citizens with multiple police services through a modern digital system under one roof. These services include driving licences, police clearance certificates, character certificates and complaint registration.
Security Situation Reviewed
Later, the IG chaired a meeting at the Jirga Hall Wari attended by police officials, district administration representatives and local elders.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in Upper Dir, security challenges facing the district and suggestions from community representatives. Participants also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.
Zulfiqar Hameed said lasting peace in Upper Dir was the result of cooperation among the public, police and security agencies.
He announced that police capacity would be strengthened through modern weapons, new vehicles, armoured vehicles, drone cameras, night-vision equipment and other modern technology. Police stations and check posts would also be upgraded to provide personnel with safer and improved working conditions.
Tribute to Police Martyrs
The IG paid tribute to police and security personnel who lost their lives during the fight against terrorism, saying their sacrifices remain a source of guidance for the force.
He said the families of martyred personnel would continue to receive all possible support.
Local elders presented their recommendations on law and order and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate with the police and other security institutions.
