Murree Session Highlights New Leadership Opportunities for Women

MURREE: A district orientation session under the Pakistan Women Leaders (PWL) Project was held in Murree to raise awareness about opportunities for women to strengthen their participation in political, social and decision-making processes.

The session was organized by the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) in collaboration with TDEA. The PWL initiative is led by UN Women and funded by the European Union. Representatives from political parties, civil society organizations, the Bar Association, media and other institutions attended the session.

Focus on Women’s Leadership

Participants were briefed on the objectives, activities and opportunities available through the Pakistan Women Leaders Project. The programme seeks to strengthen women’s leadership skills and confidence while supporting their participation in political and social processes.

SSDO also highlighted the importance of creating greater opportunities for women to take part in leadership and decision-making roles.

Guidance on Online Applications

The session included practical guidance on applying through the PWL online portal. Participants were shown how to enter the required information, complete the application form and submit their applications.

The organizers said the 34-month programme will be implemented across 57 districts of Pakistan, offering women training sessions, boot camps, mentorship, networking and other leadership development opportunities.

Participants also raised questions about eligibility, nomination and selection procedures and women’s political and social participation. Organizers responded to the questions and provided guidance on the application process.

Participants welcomed the initiative and emphasized the role of political parties, civil society, media, Bar Associations and other institutions in sharing information about the programme with eligible women.
