ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has collected Rs58 billion in Hajj 2027 payments under the government scheme in just five days, as thousands of intending pilgrims increasingly turn to digital channels for registration and payments.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, around 40% of the total payments received during the first five days were made online, reflecting growing use of the government’s digital Hajj system.
The ministry said 92,000 applications have so far been received under the government Hajj scheme, while around 15,000 seats remain available.
The digital system allows intending pilgrims to complete key stages of the process online, including registration, selection of Hajj packages and payment of dues.
Online payments have also started under the private Hajj scheme. Around Rs15 million was paid digitally on the first day alone despite the holiday, according to the ministry.
Officials have described the volume of online transactions as a significant development in Pakistan’s Hajj digitisation drive, which aims to make the process more convenient and accessible for pilgrims.
With applications continuing, intending pilgrims seeking places under the government scheme can apply against the remaining available seats.
