LAHORE, June 24, 2026: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has said that future warfare will require a technologically proficient and intellectually prepared workforce, along with updated operational strategies to address evolving security challenges.
He made the remarks during a visit to the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore, where he addressed participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course. The visit focused on professional military education and emerging trends in modern naval and maritime warfare.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the discussion centered on the changing nature of conflict, including both traditional and non-traditional security threats. The Naval Chief emphasized that legacy warfighting concepts must evolve to keep pace with technological advancements and shifting geopolitical conditions.

Emphasis on modernization and maritime security challenges
Admiral Naveed Ashraf reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to modernization, indigenization, and joint operational planning. He stressed the importance of preparing officers to develop stronger strategic thinking and operational foresight for future challenges.
He noted that the Indian Ocean Region remains strategically complex and contested due to ongoing geopolitical rivalries and shifting regional alignments.
The Naval Chief also highlighted the growing importance of multidomain operations in modern warfare and outlined Pakistan Navy’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening its role as a regional maritime force.

At the conclusion of the visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf congratulated participants of the staff course and encouraged them to remain innovative, analytical, and professionally prepared in their future assignments.
