SWAT: Three people, including an 11-year-old boy and a labourer, were killed in two separate well-related incidents in different parts of Swat, police and rescue officials said.
The incidents occurred in Balogram and the Berarai area of Khwazakhela Tehsil. In the first incident, the child and a young man died after reportedly losing consciousness inside a well containing poisonous gas, while a 35-year-old labourer died after falling into a deep well while working.
Boy, Rescuer Die After Entering Well
According to police, the 11-year-old boy fell into a well near the gate of an under-construction house in the Balogram area.
A young man identified as Ibrahim, son of Aqilmand, entered the well to rescue the boy after receiving no response from him. Police said both reportedly lost consciousness because of poisonous gas inside the well.
The two were taken toward a hospital for treatment but died on the way, according to police.
Labourer Falls Into 150-Foot Well
In a separate incident, 35-year-old labourer Waheed, a resident of Sangota, fell into an approximately 150-foot-deep well in Berarai, Khwazakhela Tehsil.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Niaz Ahmed, the incident occurred while Waheed was working at the site and the rope reportedly broke, causing him to fall into the well.
Rescue disaster teams reached the location after receiving information about the accident and retrieved Waheed from the well.
Rescuers performed CPR at the scene before transporting him to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Khwazakhela. Doctors at the hospital confirmed his death.
Authorities have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the two incidents.
