Pakistan, Malaysia Vow to Deepen Defence and Strategic Cooperation

Malaysia’s Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where the two sides discussed regional security and matters of mutual interest.

The Malaysian minister was accompanied by Malaysia’s ambassador to Pakistan and a high-level delegation. The meeting underscored the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, with both sides expressing a commitment to expand cooperation and engagement in areas of shared interest.

Regional Security Discussed

According to the official account of the meeting, the discussions covered regional security dynamics as well as matters of mutual interest to Pakistan and Malaysia.

Both sides reaffirmed the strong and enduring relationship between the two countries and expressed their resolve to further broaden bilateral cooperation.

The engagement comes as Islamabad and Kuala Lumpur continue to maintain close diplomatic, security and defence relations.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening defence collaboration and strategic engagement with Malaysia.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss ways of strengthening existing cooperation while expanding engagement in areas of common interest.
