ISLAMABAD, July 16, 2026: COMSATS University Islamabad reviewed its academic quality systems, teaching standards and international rankings strategy during the third meeting of its Institutional Quality Circle.
The meeting was chaired by Rector Prof Dr Raheel Qamar at the Rector’s Secretariat and brought together campus directors, deans, senior officials, student representatives and members of the Quality Enhancement Cell.
Registrar Dr Fahim A. Qureshi also attended the session, which focused on aligning the university’s quality assurance framework with the Higher Education Commission’s Pakistan Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance 2023.
Participants reviewed the Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement, institutional performance reporting, revisions to the university’s quality policy and measures aimed at improving its national and international standing.
Rector Calls for Learner-Centred Teaching
Addressing the meeting, Prof Dr Raheel Qamar said quality assurance should lead to measurable improvements in teaching and learning rather than remain limited to regulatory compliance.
He called for a shift from conventional lecture-based instruction towards learner-centred teaching methods capable of preparing graduates for changing technological and industrial demands.
The rector also referred to the emerging requirements of Industry 5.0, stressing the need for universities to equip students with relevant skills for a rapidly evolving professional environment.
Student Participation Welcomed
Prof Qamar welcomed the inclusion of student representatives in the Institutional Quality Circle, saying their participation would strengthen stakeholder engagement and support continuous improvement across the university.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen academic quality, improve institutional performance and support COMSATS University Islamabad’s standing at national and international levels.
