GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat has extended its Seerat-un-Nabi book exhibition until September 30 following a strong response from students, faculty members and researchers.
The exhibition, organised by the Quaid-e-Azam Library at the university’s main campus, was originally scheduled to conclude on August 28.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zahoor Ul Haq announced the extension after formally inaugurating the exhibition, which features rare manuscripts, classic biographies and a wide range of scholarly works on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The opening ceremony was attended by senior faculty members, administrative officials, researchers and library staff.
Chief Librarian A.R. Sheikh, speaking at the event, said the study of Seerah should go beyond historical understanding and serve as a source of intellectual clarity, moral guidance and character-building for young people.
He said the teachings and example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) remain particularly relevant in helping younger generations navigate contemporary ideological and social challenges.
Addressing participants, Vice Chancellor Dr Zahoor Ul Haq said universities have an important role in promoting both academic excellence and moral development.
He praised the library administration for bringing together a diverse collection of Seerat literature and said greater student engagement with authentic scholarly material could strengthen both learning and character.
The university said the decision to keep the exhibition open for an additional month was taken after sustained interest from the academic community.
The exhibition will now remain accessible until September 30, giving more students, researchers and visitors an opportunity to explore the collection.
Among those attending the inauguration were Additional Registrar Malik Shehzad Azeem, Dr Muhammad Yousuf, librarians Khadija Munawar and Liaquat, along with members of the library staff.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer for the progress of the university and the country.
