KARACHI, July 6, 2026: The Sindh Minimum Wages Board has proposed an increase in minimum wages for semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled workers employed in 60 industries across the province, while also recommending a minimum monthly wage of Rs43,000 for unskilled adult and adolescent workers.

The proposed wage revisions have been published in the Sindh Government Gazette, with the board inviting objections and suggestions from the public, employers, labour organisations and workers’ representatives within 14 days before issuing a final notification.

According to the proposal, minimum wages for semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled workers would increase by up to 7.5%. Under the revised rates, the minimum monthly wage for a semi-skilled worker has been proposed at Rs44,484, for a skilled worker at Rs53,350, and for a highly skilled worker at Rs55,626.

The board said the proposed revisions were prepared after considering inflation, prevailing economic conditions, productivity and consultations with stakeholders.

The proposed wage structure will apply to 60 industries across Sindh, and employers will not be allowed to pay workers below the prescribed minimum wage. The notification also makes it mandatory to provide equal minimum wages to male and female workers performing work of the same nature.

Separately, the board has also recommended fixing the minimum monthly wage for unskilled workers at Rs43,000, equivalent to Rs207 per hour and Rs1,654 per day.

According to the gazette notification, the proposed minimum wage will apply to all registered and unregistered industrial and commercial establishments across Sindh. If approved, the revised wages will take effect from July 1, 2026.

The board has requested all stakeholders to submit written objections or recommendations within 14 days of the notification’s publication. Objections received after the deadline will not be considered.

The notification further states that the proposed minimum wage will apply to permanent, temporary, contractual, daily wage and piece-rate workers. Employees already receiving wages higher than the proposed minimum will continue to receive their existing salaries without any reduction.
