Former Azad Kashmir prime minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has announced that the Muslim Conference will contest the upcoming Azad Kashmir elections in alliance with the United Ulema-o-Mashaikh Council.
Addressing a press conference, Sardar Attique said elections in Azad Kashmir were approaching and the Muslim Conference had faced several difficulties in recent years. He said the party had decided to enter the next election in partnership with the United Ulema-o-Mashaikh Council.
Sardar Attique said the Muslim Conference was the first political party of Azad Kashmir and had always maintained a clear position on the Kashmir freedom movement and accession to Pakistan.

The former prime minister said the political and religious identity of the State of Jammu and Kashmir remained intact. He said Mujahid-e-Awwal Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan and the Muslim Conference were the first to get a Khatm-e-Nabuwat resolution passed by the Azad Kashmir Assembly.
Referring to the party’s 93-year history, Sardar Attique said the Muslim Conference’s journey was marked by sacrifices and struggle. He said the party had never been accused of bloodshed.
Criticizing the Joint Action Committee, Sardar Attique alleged that “people’s blood is behind it.” The committee’s response to the allegation was not immediately available.
