Pakistan said security forces killed 29 militants in an intelligence-based operation and follow-up strikes near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after a series of recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi.

The Pakistan-Afghanistan border operation followed terrorist incidents that targeted civilians and a Pakistan Rangers Sindh camp in Karachi, according to a security statement. Officials said the operation targeted hideouts linked to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij in border areas.

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based ground operation on June 28, 2026, near the border in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to officials, four militants were killed during the operation.

Among those killed was a commander identified as Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal. Security officials said he was linked to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar. Several other militants were injured in the exchange, the statement said.

Officials said the operation continued under Operation Ghazb Lil Haq, with targeted strikes carried out during the night of June 28 and 29 against militant camps and hideouts in the border region.

According to the security statement, three targets in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar were destroyed during the strikes. Officials said 25 militants were killed and large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the sites were destroyed.

The operation came after multiple attacks inside Pakistan, including incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as well as the attack on the Pakistan Rangers Sindh camp in Karachi.

Pakistan said it remains committed to peace and stability in the region but would continue action against groups involved in attacks on its citizens and security forces.

Officials said counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
