Armed Forces pay tribute to Rashid Minhas Shaheed on 55th martyrdom anniversary

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Armed Forces on Thursday paid tribute to Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his 55th martyrdom anniversary, remembering his supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the defence of the country.

In a statement issued on August 20, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu joined the Armed Forces in commemorating the national hero.

The military leadership paid profound tribute to Rashid Minhas Shaheed and described his sacrifice as an enduring example of courage, loyalty and devotion to duty.

Rashid Minhas Shaheed remembered for supreme sacrifice

Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas embraced martyrdom on August 20, 1971, while displaying exceptional courage and resolve in the line of duty.

According to ISPR, he made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty and honour in the face of an extraordinary challenge.

His bravery earned him the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military award for gallantry.

Rashid Minhas remains one of the most revered figures in the history of the Pakistan Air Force, with his sacrifice continuing to inspire generations of Pakistanis and members of the Armed Forces.

Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirm commitment to national defence

On the occasion, the Armed Forces also reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.

ISPR said the immortal legacy of Rashid Minhas Shaheed would continue to inspire the nation and its Armed Forces as a timeless symbol of courage, sacrifice, patriotism and devotion to duty.

The martyrdom anniversary of Rashid Minhas Shaheed is observed every year on August 20 across Pakistan to honour his courage and remember his contribution to the defence of the motherland.
