Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s security forces killed 27 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted over the past 72 hours in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan district, according to the military’s media wing.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces engaged multiple militant hideouts during the operations, resulting in intense exchanges of fire.

The military said the slain militants belonged to the banned militant group referred to by the state as Fitna-al-Khwarij. According to ISPR, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed during the operations.

The statement said the militants had allegedly been involved in terrorist activities and targeted killings of civilians in the area.

Operation linked to investigation of Malik Saifullah Dawar’s killing

According to ISPR, the operation also avenged the killing of Malik Saifullah Dawar, a prominent local figure who was recently killed in Miran Shah.

The military said those responsible for the attack had been identified and brought to justice during the operation.

Sanitisation operations continue

ISPR said sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to clear any remaining militant presence and ensure regional security.

The military added that counterterrorism operations under the national campaign known as Azm-e-Istehkam would continue in coordination with law enforcement agencies.

According to the statement, security forces remain committed to eliminating militant networks and maintaining peace and stability in affected regions.
