SWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser to the Chief Minister on Agriculture Mian Muhammad Umar Kakakhel has reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy against corruption in the Agriculture Department, warning that any officer or official found involved in corrupt practices will face strict disciplinary action.

Speaking at an open public forum (Khuli Kachehri) in Swat, the adviser urged farmers to report any demand for bribes through the e-Minister Portal or directly to his office. He said the provincial government is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery in the agriculture sector.

Farmers’ Concerns Addressed at Public Forum

The public forum was held at the Swat Agriculture Department office and attended by Members of the Provincial Assembly Fazal Hakim Khan, Akhtar Khan Advocate, Sultan Room Khan, and Hameed-ur-Rehman, along with agriculture officials, farmers, local elders, political representatives, and community members.

Participants raised issues related to agricultural development, public services, and ongoing projects. The adviser issued immediate directions to resolve several complaints on the spot and referred other matters to the relevant departments for prompt action.

Government Reaffirms Support for Farmers

Mian Muhammad Umar said resolving farmers’ problems remains a priority for the provincial government. He said the government’s agriculture policies focus on expanding the use of modern farming technologies, improving crop productivity, and strengthening farmers’ livelihoods.

He instructed agriculture officials to prioritize applications submitted under government support schemes, ensure timely release of funds, and improve service delivery across the province.

Modern Plant Laboratory Inaugurated

Following the public forum, the adviser inaugurated a Molecular Plant Laboratory at the Agriculture Research Institute in Mingora.

He said the new facility will strengthen agricultural research by supporting the development of disease-resistant and high-yield crop varieties. During his visit, he also inspected research units and ongoing development projects at the institute, directing officials to complete all projects on schedule and according to quality standards.

Officials Directed to Increase Field Engagement

During a departmental meeting, Mian Muhammad Umar instructed agriculture officials to remain actively engaged with farmers in the field rather than limiting their work to offices.
