KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed authorities to accelerate the rollout of the province’s Free Solar Home System project, aimed at providing affordable and sustainable electricity to low-income households, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting, where officials briefed the chief minister on the progress of the initiative, under which 275,000 deserving families across Sindh are set to receive free solar home systems.
Focus on Remote and Underserved Communities
Murad Ali Shah instructed the relevant departments to speed up the distribution and installation of solar systems so that families living in off-grid and remote regions can benefit from reliable electricity as soon as possible.
He emphasized that access to affordable and sustainable energy is essential for improving the quality of life of low-income households.
Transparent Distribution Ordered
The chief minister directed officials to ensure that the distribution process remains transparent, fair, and efficient so that the systems reach eligible beneficiaries without delay.
He also instructed authorities to prioritize families living in areas that lack access to the conventional electricity grid.
Monitoring and Technical Support
Murad Ali Shah said the success of the project depends not only on distributing solar kits but also on ensuring their proper installation, technical support, and long-term maintenance.
He directed officials to strengthen implementation and complete the project within the prescribed timeline while establishing an effective monitoring system to oversee installation quality and after-sales support.
