Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, is on an official visit to Türkiye, where he held meetings with the country’s political and military leadership to discuss bilateral defence cooperation, regional security, and strategic relations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit reflects ongoing efforts by Pakistan and Türkiye to strengthen their long-standing defence partnership and expand cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
Meetings With Turkish Leadership
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler.
According to the ISPR, the discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional security developments, and opportunities to further deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Defence Cooperation Discussed at Military Headquarters
At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, the Army Chief was received with a Guard of Honour before holding talks with General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff.
The two military leaders discussed regional security dynamics and professional matters related to defence cooperation, the ISPR said.
During the visit, General Bayraktaroğlu awarded Field Marshal Asim Munir the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of his contributions to strengthening military ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.


Visits to Turkish Land Forces and Anıtkabir
Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited the headquarters of the Turkish Land Forces, where he met General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces.
He later visited Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, where he laid a floral wreath and paid tribute to the founder of modern Türkiye.
According to the ISPR, the visit underscores the commitment of both countries to further strengthen defence cooperation and continue working together to promote regional peace and stability.
