Field Marshal Asim Munir visits Quetta, stresses preparedness for modern warfare

RAWALPINDI, May 19: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Quetta Garrison on Monday, where he addressed officers at the Command and Staff College and later interacted with troops deployed in Balochistan.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare and stressed the importance of adapting to emerging technologies, multi-domain operations and future battlefield challenges.

During his address at the Command and Staff College Quetta, the field marshal appreciated the institution’s training standards, professionalism and academic environment. He said graduates of the college had continued to demonstrate strong performance and dedication in professional service.

He advised officers to continue improving their training and operational preparedness in response to evolving security and warfare challenges while maintaining high professional standards.

Focus on security situation in Balochistan

Later, the army chief met officers and troops serving in Balochistan and discussed the prevailing security environment in the province.

According to ISPR, he reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces, with public support, remained committed to eliminating terrorism in all forms.

The field marshal said propaganda, fake news and externally supported terrorism could not stop Pakistan’s progress. He added that attempts to destabilise the country through proxy activities and disinformation would fail because of the resilience of the state and unity of the people.

Emphasis on development and stability

The army chief also stressed the importance of long-term peace and stability in Balochistan through a people-centred approach, inclusive development and improved governance alongside security efforts.

He appreciated the Balochistan government’s efforts in public welfare and socio-economic development aimed at strengthening trust between the state and the people.

The field marshal also praised the morale, operational readiness and professional commitment of officers and troops serving in the province.

According to ISPR, Commander Quetta Corps received the army chief upon his arrival in Quetta.
