CAIRO: A daring robbery on Egypt’s Ismailia Desert Road has gone viral on social media after suspects allegedly carried out the theft from a moving truck in a scene compared by viewers to an action movie.
According to reports, a pickup truck followed a moving cargo truck before pulling alongside it. The suspects then allegedly opened the rear door of the truck while both vehicles were in motion.
The group reportedly transferred part of a shipment of frozen chickens from the moving truck into their own vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Egyptian security authorities later identified the suspects as a six-member criminal gang allegedly involved in the robbery.
During a police operation against the group, the suspects reportedly opened fire at security personnel, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
Authorities said three suspects were killed during the confrontation, while three others were arrested.
Police also recovered automatic rifles, shotguns, the vehicle allegedly used in the operation and stolen goods from the suspects, according to Egyptian security officials.
The incident and footage of the alleged robbery have attracted significant attention on social media, with viewers comparing the daring method used by the suspects to scenes from Hollywood action films.
Authorities are continuing legal proceedings and investigations into the gang’s alleged activities.
