KARACHI, April 24: Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf have each been fined 10 per cent of their match fees for breaching the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct after a heated on-field exchange during Match 34 at the National Bank Stadium.
The penalties follow an on-field altercation between the two players during the Rawalpindiz vs Islamabad United fixture, with both admitting to Level 1 offences and accepting sanctions imposed by the match referee.
What happened during the match
The incident took place in the 17th over when Amir delivered a slower bouncer. Faheem attempted an upper cut but edged the ball to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, resulting in his dismissal.
Amir celebrated with an animated gesture, appearing to direct Faheem towards the pavilion. In response, Faheem approached the bowler and raised his bat, leading to a brief but tense confrontation before teammates, including Asif Afridi and Saad Masood, stepped in to separate the players.
Code of Conduct action
According to officials, Amir breached Article 2.5, which relates to gestures or actions that could provoke a dismissed batter. Faheem was found in violation of Article 2.21, concerning behaviour that brings the game into disrepute.
The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Alex Wharf and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, with match referee Sir Richard Richardson confirming the sanctions.
Team standings
Rawalpindiz remain at the bottom of the points table, with one win and eight losses from nine matches, holding two points and a net run rate of -1.330.
They are scheduled to face Hyderabad Kingsmen in their final league-stage match on April 26, while Islamabad United continue their campaign in the tournament.
