LAHORE: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to expand cooperation in cricket, including the provision of coaching support by Pakistani coaches to Iran’s junior and senior national teams.
A delegation from the Iran Cricket Association visited the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where discussions were held on promoting the sport and strengthening bilateral cricket cooperation.
During the visit, the Iranian delegation toured Gaddafi Stadium, the Cricket Museum and the National Cricket Academy. The visitors reviewed the training and development facilities available at the academy.
According to the PCB, the delegation also met PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed Syed and Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer.
The two sides discussed opportunities to promote cricket in Iran and agreed on coaching assistance from Pakistani coaches for both Iran’s junior and senior teams.
They also agreed to explore additional opportunities for technical cooperation, cricket development and stronger institutional links between the two countries.
The initiative is expected to provide Iran with access to Pakistan’s cricket coaching expertise while creating a framework for greater cooperation between the cricket bodies of the neighbouring countries.
