UPPER DIR: The Azadi Table Tennis and Martial Arts Championships 2026 were organised in Upper Dir, bringing together young athletes from different parts of the district to celebrate Independence Day through healthy sporting activities.
Table tennis players from various areas of Upper Dir participated enthusiastically and showcased their skills during the championship.
The event was inaugurated by Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shah Naveed and District Sports Officer Sadiqullah. Political and social figures, sports enthusiasts and other guests attended the event and encouraged the participating athletes.
The organisers said the championship was aimed at celebrating Independence Day through positive and healthy activities, promoting patriotism among young people and providing local athletes with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.
Martial Arts Championship
The Azadi Martial Arts Championship was also held as part of the celebrations, featuring athletes from different areas of the district.
Competitions were held in boxing, taekwondo, kickboxing, wushu and karate. The participants demonstrated their fitness, discipline, technical skills and competitive spirit.
Shah Naveed and District Sports Officer Sadiqullah attended the competitions and encouraged the athletes while observing their performances.
In the team standings, Green Brawl Taekwondo Academy secured first position, followed by Brawl Taekwondo Academy in second place and Green Team B Taekwondo Academy in third.
The organisers said the championships were designed not only to mark Independence Day but also to promote discipline, patriotism, healthy competition and positive engagement among young people.
They added that such events provide local athletes with a platform to showcase their talent and encourage greater participation in sports across Upper Dir.
