Inspector General of Police(IGP )Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, paid a special visit to Mardan District, where he inaugurated the newly constructed building of Rustam Police Station, established in 1836. During the inauguration ceremony, IGP highlighted the historical significance of the police station, saying, “Rustam Police Station is a very important police station established during the Sikh era and remained important during the British era as well, which can be gauged from the historical impressions written by the British officers during their visit to the police station. Even in the present era, this police station has considerable importance due to its proximity to the mountainous area of Buner district.” The IGP inspected the newly constructed building of Rustam Police Station, which included the SHO office, ladies desk & restroom, Muharrar office, kot, lockup and barracks.
He emphasized the importance of people-friendly policing and directed the police to convert police stations into citizen-centric service centers.
During the inspection of SHO office, ladies desk, and restroom, he appreciated the performance of women police officers. The IGP also presented certificates of appreciation and prizes to high-performing police officers and personnel in the Mardan region. He stressed that public service with dedication and honesty is the real identity of the police. IGP Hameed later met with members of the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) Rustam and Katling, appreciating their valuable services in promoting social peace and brotherhood. He acknowledged the significant role of DRCs in resolving disputes amicably and reducing pressure on the judicial system.
