275 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Islamabad Raid

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have jointly arrested 275 foreign nationals during a raid on an allegedly illegal call centre in Islamabad, according to sources.

The operation was conducted in Sector I-10/3, where authorities reportedly found a call centre allegedly operating in violation of Pakistani laws. The arrested individuals are said to include Chinese nationals as well as citizens of other countries.

Alleged Illegal Activities Under Investigation

According to sources, investigators also uncovered information about activities allegedly being carried out at the facility, including the production of objectionable material. Foreign men and women were reportedly recruited for the activities.

The exact nature and scope of the alleged operations remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the individual roles of those arrested.

Cases Registered Under Pakistani Laws

The FIA has reportedly registered a separate case against the arrested foreign nationals under the Foreigners Act, while the NCCIA has also registered a case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

Initial information indicates that the foreign nationals had entered Pakistan on visit or business visas. Authorities are examining their visa status, immigration records and the circumstances of their stay in the country.

76 Foreign Nationals to Be Sent Back

Following the operation, authorities have decided to deport 76 of the foreign nationals. Sources said exit permits were being prepared to facilitate their departure after completion of the relevant legal formalities.

Investigations into the call centre’s activities, the roles of those arrested and other possible legal violations are continuing.
