Violence Erupts Again in Manipur as Protesters Attack Officials’ Homes and Tensions Escalate

Violent clashes have erupted once again in the Indian state of Manipur. Violent protesters set fire to the homes of two state ministers and three members of parliament.

The unrest followed the deaths of ten Kuki tribal youth at the hands of the Indian Army, and in a retaliatory action, three Hindu women were killed. Mobile and internet services have been suspended in the area, and the army has been deployed in sensitive regions.

The opposition Congress party has stated that the civil war has been ongoing for over a year, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not visited the state even once. Today, he left the country for a foreign trip, leaving the nation in turmoil.
