New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced a public lottery for 600 free tickets to the New York Knicks championship ceremony at City Hall Plaza following the team’s NBA title victory.
The Knicks championship ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 18, after a ticker-tape parade through Lower Manhattan. The celebration marks the franchise’s first NBA championship since 1973 and its first ticker-tape parade in New York.
The lottery opened on Tuesday evening and will close at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Winners will be selected through a random draw and will receive two tickets each to attend the City Hall ceremony.
Mayor Mamdani said the celebration belongs to New Yorkers who waited 53 years to see the Knicks win another NBA championship.

The event at City Hall Plaza is expected to include speeches, musical performances and a presentation of keys to the city to Knicks players.
The ticker-tape parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. near Battery Park. It will move north along Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes before ending near City Hall.
City officials have encouraged fans to gather along Broadway to watch the parade. Further details on security, road closures and event arrangements are expected before the celebration.
The festivities follow the Knicks’ NBA Finals victory over the San Antonio Spurs, ending one of the longest title droughts in New York sports history.
